ThirstyNest, the first curated wine and spirits registry, has officially launched online, giving modern couples an innovative option to select wedding gifts to stock their home bar! Home entertaining is an exciting part of a new marriage, with other traditional registries giving couples the option for selecting everything except what they will actually serve.
With over 15 years in the wine and spirits industry, ThirstyNest founder Jacki Strum discovered the need for a home bar registry during her own wedding planning process. “Like many couples today, my fiancé and I were already living together and didn’t need to start from scratch filling our home with necessities,” said Strum. “The reality is, many couples have the items needed to run their household prior to getting engaged and are living in smaller spaces so cabinet and counter storage is at a premium. Instead, we wanted gifts that were more experiential and would upgrade our current ability to entertain.”
According to a 2016 Wine Market Council study, the millennial generation comprises the largest wine consuming market in the history of the United States. Of the 79 million millennials in the U.S., 36% of them drink wine, compared to 34% of 75 million baby boomers. At the same time, there has been a drastic shift in the marriage age from 23 and 26 in females and males respectively in 1990, to 27 and 29 currently. “These statistics show us that as couples are getting married a little older, their tastes and gift needs are also changing,” said Strum.
ThirstyNest meets the need for modern wedding registries with a lifestyle-focused approach and an expertly-curated gifting experience. Finally, couples can register for gifts that are more experiential while upgrading their ability to entertain!
At Let’s Bee Together, when we got married, we were both 26 years old and we’d already been living together for two and a half years so we had everything that we needed, as well as some stuff we didn’t need, cluttering up our cupboards. Even though we looked at loads of different gift lists before we were due to be wed, there was nothing that we could find which we wanted or needed. We ended up asking for money and feeling pretty cheeky about it – it also then created an issue for guests not knowing how much money to give and feeling awkward. We think that ThirstyNest is such a fantastic idea because when is a nice tipple not a good idea for newlyweds?!

La Petit Box is based in the UK and is run by three sisters Natalie, Clare & Georgiana. Natalie has always been a lover of vintage items and antiques, and she has already has an impressive amount of many old ring boxes in her collection. The sisters were so used to hearing people say “They don’t make them like they used to”, so they decided to change that and create something that would stay in style and be able to be passed down through the generations. The design is taken from some boxes that date back to the late Victorian times, but sadly these are very rare and extremely hard to find in excellent condition.
Clare from La Petit Box said that they found that coming up with the names or titles for the ring boxes were the easiest and most pleasant task of all. “We simply used stately places around England, for example, The Mayfair Velvet Box because it sounded so opulent and full of grandeur.”
We love the fact that these sweet dainty velvet ring boxes are used for surprise proposals and they are the perfect box for any Mrs to be. Not only that, but everyone is crazy about these boxes, from brides to stylists and photographers – they’re all obsessed, but it is so easy to see why!
