Classic Barn Wedding in North Carolina – Wake Forest, North Carolina – Emily & Chad
These two are true high school sweethearts! They have been going to school together through elementary school, middle school, high school, and college! Chad asked Emily to prom their junior year of high school and the rest was history between these two! Their wedding was held at The Historic Wakefield Barn in Wake Forest, North Carolina. It was the perfect combination of rustic and classic. The all white inside of the barn was the perfect backdrop for the day. This day was the epitome of rustic elegance! The ladies wore different shades of purple, while the guys sported grey suits. All of Emily and Chad’s family and friends gathered in the barn for the ceremony while they stood under an arch full of lush greens, which looks simply gorgeous! These high school sweetheart danced the night away, enjoying every second of their wedding day!
Emily says that the wedding inspiration really started with the barn itself! “I always loved the rustic idea of getting married in a barn & when I stepped foot onto the ceremony space at The Historic Wakefield Barn I was blown away & instantly sold! I found the barn through my long-time, dear friend & wedding planner Janna Brown with Chad Biggs Event Planning & Design. After that, everything just seemed to fall into place – rustic, light, elegant – what an easy theme to put together! We did incorporated lighting of unity candles during the ceremony, both of our moms lit the outside candles then we signified unity by lighting the middle. We also shared a prayer before the ceremony. We didn’t do a first look but instead stood around a corner of the barn, held hands, prayed, laughed & just enjoyed the “secret” moment.”
“We pieced together every table centerpiece using pieces from my favorite store, Kirklands. We also decorated the ceremony space with lots & lots of lanterns. We did incorporate some DIY – my grandfather is a wood maker so we made every sign, table card stand, cake stand & easel by hand! I touched it up with some vinyl calligraphy & get to cherish the pieces my grandfather delightfully made for our day forever!”
“My florals were wispy, full of lavender & just the perfect touch! My favorite floral element was the arbor we got married under made fully from greenery – it was truly breathtaking! We also lined the staircase my dad & I walked down heading to the aisle with greenery. The greenery really made the white barn pop & look so natural & beautiful! Then, the purple added just the right amount of color.”
“Our wedding party entered our reception with pool noodles, floats & sunglasses – that was so fun! I also enjoyed sneaking back out of the reception to take sunset pictures – they’re my absolute favorite! We also ended the night with a sparkler exit.”
“The most special moment for me was holding hands & talking before the ceremony – it was so calming & all felt real when we touched & laughed (but still couldn’t see each other). I will also cherish the moments just before walking to the barn with my dad – it was the only quiet moment of my whole day & we just loved spending those moments together before he gave me away. Then, just dancing all night with my family & friends – my wedding is the most fun party I’ve ever been to!!!”
