Garden Wedding with Lush Greens – New Hill, North Carolina – Erica & Daniel
These two are true high school sweethearts. They worked with each other at Chick-Fil-A, Erica was a junior and Daniel was a senior at the time and they later found out they went to the same church, they immediately knew they liked one another. They started dating after two weeks and the rest is history!
. We managed a couple bouts of distance and finally reunited in the Raleigh area after he graduated college. The day that he proposed he told me we were going out to dinner after a walk at Duke Gardens and told me to dress cute. While we were on our walk, he was telling me a story about his grandmother bringing him to a certain gazebo as a kid and it held some of his fondest memories. When we got up to it, there was a vase of purple peonies (my favorite color and flower) and a wood burned sign that said “Will you marry me?” I of course said yes and it was all captured by a friend. We added to my now husband’s fondest memories at that gazebo.
Their wedding was full of lush greens and a perfect blue truck. It was the perfect garden feeling! Their garden wedding was perfect since the bride’s family owns a garden supply company!
Erica says that their wedding was such a party. “We really wanted everyone there to have a great time. We wanted everything to be really simple, easy on the eyes and not too over the top which was accomplished. We chose blush, rose gold and a stormy colored purple as our colors and they all paired really well with our spring date. We had a lot of prayer and one of Daniel’s groomsman spoke a passage during our ceremony. It was important to keep God at the forefront of us committing the rest of our lives together.”
“We used a lot of flowers and glass vases. Most everything was DIY from the table decor, place cards, and signs. With our simple theme, we ordered a lot of flowers in bulk and cut them into different lengths for the table settings and decor. We kept them close to the table and didn’t have anything too tall so people could make conversation without looking over anything. We are all family here after all!”
When it came to dress shopping, Erica said that she chose the very last dress she tried on and fell in love with it. “It was something I never thought I would pick but with the lace, the train, and cut outs, I couldn’t say no. I chose a shorter veil so that the dress wouldn’t be hidden especially since the back was sheer with lace design. I knew I wanted my hair down and braided so that choice was easy and the makeup had simplicity with a hint of glitter! We chose a darker gray to compliment the stormy purple bridesmaid dresses. All the boys wore matching purple and pink donut socks for my grandfather who passed away in 2016. He loved donuts and it gave a fun spin to their outfits. They wore blush ties to coordinate with the hints of blush in the bouquets and a thistle greenery boutonniere to compliment the purple.”
To personalise their day, this happy couple actually had breakfast for dinner. “Daniel and I love breakfast and throughout our dating life and even still our married one, we bond over breakfast dates! All the guests were completely surprised but it was a major hit! Our wedding cake was confetti flavored and was done in the colors of our wedding which was a lot of fun and was absolutely beautiful. We also had donuts as our going away favor at the end of the night which was another tribute to my grandfather who loved donuts so much. It was a special touch. Dinner and dancing were our favorite parts of the night. We felt really special and loved and enjoyed each moment with our guests on the dance floor. Also an added bonus was taking photos and driving away in the old blue truck that my parents own. We love that truck.”
