Proposal in front of the Eiffel Tower – Avisha & Anant – Paris, France

Anant and Avisha knew each other through mutual friends but never actually hung out alone, besides one day when they happened to have a casual outing with other friends. About a year later they got in contact again and started chatting. Around that time Avisha was planning a trip to New York with family. Anant suggested a few places for her to visit and even said he would like to meet her one day for a drink. Avisha told Anant with all of his suggestions he could be her tour guide. When Avisha finally made it to New York, she did not call or text Anant because she was unsure if he was serious about being her tour guide.

The communication wasn’t that great the day Avisha went to New York because they both thought they were going to get either a message or a phone call to confirm the time and place. Anant was at work and didn’t hear from her all day while thinking to himself, why didn’t she reach out to him as yet? It automatically made him feel unsure if they were still going to grab a drink and hang out. He then started to think; maybe she didn’t want to anymore? At this point, there was only one way for him to find out. He picked up the phone to send a message asking, “did you make it into NY safe? and how was your flight?” While conversating for a few minutes, Anant asked if she would be down to meet up for a drink.

Right after confirming they will be meeting up for a few drinks, Anant left work and hailed a taxi right down the block from his job. While on the way to see her, he realised that he should take something for her as he could not go empty-handed. Swiftly thinking, he asked the cab driver to turn around and drop him back to work as there’s a chocolatier across the street from where he works. He begged the cab driver to wait for him. The can driver refused to, unless Anant gave him cash as the meter will still be running. He handed him $20 dollars hoping he would wait for him, rushing to pick up some chocolate chip cookies along with a box of Taittinger champagne truffles. In total disappointment after walking out of the store, the cab driver had left. He then began to walk down the street in hope to find another cab. Anant was able to hail down another taxi within minutes. His cab driver then got into a fender bender with another cab in front of them. In total frustration, Anant said to himself (out loud), “Wow! Is this really happening right now”? The cab driver got into a heated argument with the other cab driver who then got into a physical fist fight with his cab driver. Anant then pulled out some more money and left it on the front seat before getting out to look for another cab. He was able to find another taxi, once again, within minutes! At that point, he tried to calm himself down before he got to the location where Avisha was waiting.

He finally made it! Getting out of the cab with a huge smile on his face, as he walked up to the building lobby. The double doors slid open, and there was Avisha was, with the STANK FACE (as Anant likes to describe it)! After handing her the cookies and truffles, he said to himself, “Woman, do you have any idea what I just went through to get these damn cookies and truffles for you”?!

They then started to walk together in hopes to find a local bar. Avisha was walking pretty slow which gave Anant the opportunity not to wait where he walked ahead as he thought to himself, “I need to get away from this woman because she is so mean to me and greeted me with the meanest look ever” not even a smile! While walking approximately 10ft away from her, he started to plot how he could have one quick drink and make up an excuse to leave because he didn’t want to be stuck with her anymore. That moment, Avisha kept thinking to herself, “I can’t believe he is just walking ahead of me and not even saying anything. I do not even know New York like that!” Anant decided to be nice and ask to take a photo of her to which she replied sure. Anant was holding her bag, and Avisha thought it was hilarious, so she decided to take a picture of him holding it.

Finally, they found a random Irish PUB after asking a local promoter, who was standing at the corner of the street handing out flyers, “where can we find the nearest bar?” When they walked in it was extremely crowded. After weaving in between everyone, trying to make it to the bar for a drink, there were two seats that weren’t taken. They then sat down and ordered some drinks, and they got into an intellectual conversation during the first drink, which went well. Then to break the ice Avisha proposed that they have a shot of a buttery nipple. At this point, Anant was saying to himself, “Wow, she isn’t so mean after all.” Avisha thought the same. Their time spent at the Pub turned out to be amazing. They started to head back to the hotel lobby/bar as Avisha’s family was supposed to meet them there for a quick drink. Anant met her Aunt, Uncle and Cousin who wanted to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller centre that night. Their family invited Anant to come along for the night, and Avisha asked Anant if he would join as well. He said yes, and they ended up having a lot of fun where they toured the streets of NYC!

The next day they messaged each other asking what their plans were for the night. Anant’s brother-in-law pushed him to make plans with Avisha, and Avisha’s cousin urged her to find out what he was doing that night. They decided to make some arrangements and go to Club Taj in NYC where they had a lot of fun. Right after the club, they went for a walk together where they first held hands. Avisha wanted to see if the city really did never sleep, so Anant took her to the heart of Times Square where they took photos in front of the red steps. That was the very first time Anant hugged Avisha while taking a picture! After that, Anant dropped her off at her hotel and said goodbye thinking this would be the last time he saw her.

The next morning Anant called Avisha asking how she planned to get back to the airport. Avisha stated she was going to take a cab and like a true gentleman, Anant offered to pick her up, take her to lunch and then drop her at the airport. He took her to lunch to his favourite place to eat and then dropped her off at the airport.

On the way home from the airport, Anant was in the car and told his friend, “I’m so sad, but I don’t know why! He turned to him and said do you miss Lauren (which is what Anant calls Avisha)?” He said, “No, No Way! That is impossible. I only hung out with her for the weekend!” He went on and tried to shake it off and somehow couldn’t as he continued to feel sad throughout the week without reason. It took him a while to figure it all out. He came to realise that it was her he was missing that made him feel so sad! Funny enough, Avisha felt the same way. Usually, after vacations, she is ready to go home, but she felt like she was leaving something behind.

They continued to stay in contact, but neither of them wanted to admit their feelings to one another because of the distance. As the months went by, they continued to talk and talk and get to know one another. Eventually, Anant decided to visit Avisha so that they could see each other again and decide what to do about their feelings for one another. When he came to visit they both finally expressed how they honestly felt, and there was no secret that they were both in love.

Anant and Avisha planned to visit Paris for their two year anniversary. It was a trip they had both been planning for almost a year. While they were looking for things to do in Paris Avisha came across a Paris Photographer. She suggested they get a few photos taken by the Eiffel Tower since it was their two year anniversary and they were visiting a place they both dreamed of visiting. Anant agreed and told Avisha to arrange it. Little did Avisha know, Anant had been reaching out to the photographer, planning a marriage proposal. A week before the photo shoot Anant and Avisha were scheduled to have a skype call with the photographer to arrange a meet up etc. Anant had already spoken to the photographer minutes before their Skype call to finalise and confirm the proposal plans. A marriage proposal was the last thing on Avisha’s mind as Anant tried to throw Avisha off by telling her she had to visit him in New York again in June and that they were going to go ring shopping in Paris so she would not get suspicious or think that the proposal might be happening in Paris. Anant and Avisha started their photo shoot early in the morning right at sunrise. They took a few photos and had fun while doing it. During the photo shoot, Anant asked the photographer to change his camera lens. Avisha looked at him confused as to why he was asking the photographer to do that. But apparently, that was the code word for he was about to propose. He started by asking Avisha what was the one place in the world they both wanted to visit? Avisha laughed and replied saying Paris. He then proceeded to tell her how much he loves her and that he could not imagine spending the rest of his life with anyone else. In the middle of all that he stopped and said, “do you think I am going to propose?” Avisha laughed and shook her head no because she thought it was going to happen in New York since that is where they met. Anant proceeded to tell her why and how much he loves her. And then he pulled the ring out of his pocket while getting on one knee, and said, “Avisha Labban will you marry me?” At that moment, Avisha was in complete shock that this was happening and just stood there in complete disbelief. It took about 5 minutes before she said yes. The best part of the whole proposal is that Anant’s family and Avisha’s family were all patiently waiting at home for photos so that they could celebrate as they knew all along about the entire plan.
