A Modern Fairytale at Park Chateau – Danielle & Stephen
Danielle and Stephen first saw each other when they were fifteen at a high school opening game at Met Life Stadium. It was just in passing, Danielle was walking down the stadium stairs and Stephen was walking up where he stopped her and asked her name. Danielle was shy at the time, and he appeared older than her so she laughed and brushed him off. Little did she know, this would be the man she eventually would marry. And if you ask Stephen, he would tell you that he knew all along.
They ended up meeting again through mutual friends in high school. Danielle attended an all girls catholic school, Holy Angels, and he attended an all boys catholic school St. Joseph in Montvale. Once they were together, they were inseparable. They stayed together through college – Danielle was in Washington DC and Stephen was up in Ithaca NY. She is now in Medical School in DC and Stephen has moved down to be with her. They are coming up on their 9 year anniversary and they have been together through it all.
Stephen and Danielle got engaged on a beautiful fall afternoon in Central Park. Stephen had set up on appointment to trick her into going into the city with him to look at rings at a shop she had been following on Instagram. After looking at rings and not seeing anything she loved, Stephen suggested they meet his young nephews in Central Park for some ice skating. As they made out way over, Stephen took Danielle down memory lane of their already 10 year relationship. Once they entered the park, Stephen grabbed her hand and took her to the most beautiful quiet spot with The Plaza Hotel in the background. He pulled her tight, told her how much he loved her and got on one knee with the most beautiful ring. After Danielle said yes, Stephen had arranged for her parents and her best friend to surprise her at the Plaza for tea. “It was amazing. As if the surprises were not enough, the next day I walked into a surprise engagement party with all of our friends and family! The whole weekend was a whirlwind.”
When asked about her wedding vision, Danielle says that it was romantic glam. She wanted it to be very classic and focus on the love that her and Stephen share with each other. Their wedding was black tie, so the groomsmen and Stephen wore classic Black Tuxes from The Black Tux. Her dress was Dennis Basso from Kleinfeld. It was the 5th dress she tried on and absolutely stunning. Their wedding cake (dulce de leche with vanilla cake) was actually inspired by it!
Whilst planning, the most important thing to them was trying to enjoy the process – which Danielle believes they accomplished. They had been dating for 10 years prior to getting engaged, so they were not in a rush to find the right team for their day. Assembling the right people around their day was their biggest priority.
For some personal touches to their special day, Danielle wore her great aunt, Grace, diamond ring. Her mom wore her mothers matching diamond ring. These two women were the matriarchs of their family and huge influences in Danielle and her mothers lives. She says that they had to have a piece of them there with them on this day. They also included a generations table with the wedding photo from their parents and grandparents.
