Alpine Ski Club Wedding – Bethany & Adam
Bethany and Adam met while she was attending medical school and Adam was doing his PhD at Western University. Adam proposed by writing her a song and playing it for her on the guitar after she got home from work one day. Rose petals were leading up the stairs, candles everywhere and he started playing as soon as she walked in. He even recorded it! So sweet and thoughtful.
When you think of Autumn, you think orange, red, and brown, the crunch of leaves beneath your feet, and apple cider. But Bethany and Adam took their autumnal wedding to a whole new level be weaving in hints of fresh greens. They pulled in golds and decorated their modern and clean venue with bold florals and rustic wood tones.
Bethany says that they always knew they wanted an autumn wedding. “There is just something about the crisp fall air and beautiful colours that always make me smile. We chose Collingwood, ON for a few reasons. First, it was halfway for Adam’s family living in Sudbury and many of our family and friends from Toronto/London and beyond. Second, my family grew up skiing at Alpine Ski Club and so that location had sentimental value. Finally, my mom lives in Thornbury so it made planning a little bit easier having that connection. I LOVE the colour purple. I knew I wanted some sort of combination of raspberry/wine/purple colours to contrast with the fall leaves. My bridesmaid dresses were “Sangria” and I used flowers to tie in my favourite shades. I think it really popped with the navy blue suits the groomsmen were in.”
They kept the decorations simple because the venue was just so gorgeous on its own. They let the flowers do a lot of the décor. Up the aisle, they spread some silk rose petals and had two tall decorative pots with tall birch and curly willow where Adam and Bethany were standing. They focused on the flowers, lots of tea light candles, some lanterns at the base of the stairs and a few extra flowers on the standing cocktail tables was all they needed.
For Adams vows, he said, “I will endeavour to be as attentive as possible in all situations, and I promise to take all of your medical advice to heart. In return for this advice, I promise to fulfill my duty as a medical physicist and help you minimise your exposure to ionizing radiation. In the future, when you’re working long hours on call, I promise to take care of our feline babies, Penny and Leo, our human babies, and our TWENTY Golden Retriever puppies. (I just wanted to keep my bases covered.) I promise that when we are confronted with difficult decisions, I shall strive to be a voice of reason and rationality. And, as any good scientist and husband should do, I will admit when I am wrong. I promise to bring you flowers and snuggle you when you’re feeling blue, and to offer you reassurance and support in times of doubt. I promise to trust you, cherish you, adore you, and to be faithful to you. And whatever the future brings, I promise to be at your side, so that together, we may face whatever wonders and trials the universe may bring. Most importantly, I promise to love ya!”
