Beautiful Backyard Wedding – Marshall & Tanya

This lovely couple met through a mutual friend when Tanya was in grade 11, and Marshall was two years older. They started hanging out bit by bit and the rest was history. Ten years later he proposed in their bedroom as Tanya was getting ready for bed and he asked her to sit down. She says “it was the absolute cutest thing because even though it was just the two of us he was so nervous.”

Tanya and Marshall became husband and wife on a beautiful spring day in Sydenham Ontario on the property of the groom’s parents. Everything was perfection, from the little bits of pink and the handmade arbour that the groom’s dad constructed. The decor was a perfect combination of rustic and sweet – a wheelbarrow for guests drinks, an old door for the seating arrangements and beautifully painted signage.

Tanya says that when it came to their wedding day, “words can’t express how happy I was that day, not just because I finally got to marry the man of my dreams, but also because everything was absolutely perfect! I would call my theme Country Romance, with zero burlap. My wedding colours were light pink and mint green because pink and green are my favourite colours. I would say the only tradition we followed was the something old, new, borrowed and blue.”

“The ceremony décor was simple yet elegant. We had a beautiful arch made of birch wood that my father-in-law, Mark Pierce, build and we added floral décor to it. Other than that I had a sign I made that read Today I marry my best friend, the one I live for, laugh with, dream with, Love. Around the grounds, I hung small jars from trees, that contained tee light candles, and we had baby’s breath lining the garden around the house. The reception was breathtaking. I used MT Designs for our head table backdrop, lighting was provided by Bustini’s Catering, and the rest was DIY. From the centrepieces to each table set up for the extra like my remember table, gifts for the guests, and more.”
