Boudoir Bachelorette Styled Shoot – Find Your Perfect Red

From the event coordinators: I believe that women should do more to celebrate each other. The idea for this shoot came from looking at all of the different traditions for the bride when it comes to the wedding. These traditions including showers and bachelorette parties are about celebrating the Mrs. before the wedding. Doing a group boudoir session as a party of or in lieu of these other events seemed perfect. Getting together with your bridesmaids or closest friends, getting dolled up, feeling beautiful and confident together is what celebrating each other is all about. The ‘Find Your Perfect Red’ theme came from celebrating our differences and feeling confident, empowered. The shade of red lipstick that a women loves is a pretty personal choice and what looks best depends upon her skin tone, hair color and her smile. How better to show a woman’s unique personalities then to find her perfect red.
From the photographer: Boudoir parties are a crazy fun way to get all glammed up with your best friends! With on-location hair and makeup artists, you’ll each be given an individual look that highlights your best features. You can share a champagne toast, snacks, and lots of laughs. Trust us – there is no better way to calm your nerves than having a friend or two with you. We loved being part of this shoot and all of its beauty. Photographing boudoir is a niche that we’re proud to be part of – we see the transformation of the nervous laughs at the beginning of the session to the empowered woman who is telling us how much fun it was afterward. Trusting your photographer is crucial, and we’re honored every time a bride chooses us to photograph her session!

Music: So many brides get nervous before their boudoir sessions, we understand! One of the #1 things that can help release some of your nerves is music! It can help you relax and just have fun with it. When you are in your element and you feel comfortable, it will show in your photos. The right playlist can make you feel empowered! Aside from that, what mood do you want to be in? Choose songs based on that and let the good times roll! Creating a playlist of fun songs, throwback songs, fun flirty songs can really set the atmosphere in the room.

From the hair & makeup team: We wanted to base our looks utilizing different shades of red lipstick, since red represents more of a sassy, sultry, powerful statement in the makeup world. We used three shades: Carpe Vinum, Red She Said and Ruby Woo. Each of the colors really worked well on the different skin tones and matched beautifully with their robes. Eyes were done with a soft, smokey technique, creating the perfect balance between the specific shades of red.
For hair, we gave each model voluminous, soft, barrel curls. This type of hair, along with the red, sassy, sultry lip, embodied the strong, feminine, classy and timeless look that we were going for.
From the floral designer: After working with so many couples who want an original backdrop to their ceremony or sweetheart table, we wanted more options. When approached with this shoot, we knew this was the perfect opportunity to create a floral wall. Most floral walls create an ombre effect by fading from top to bottom. We created a swirling of burgundy through the center fading out to ivory and greenery. Having stunning women in lingerie was a unique and beautiful contrast to a floral wall for a wedding, as the florals added to the femininity and softness of the boudoir images.
From the paper suite designer: We let shades of red inspire the invitation and paper designs, and used a relaxed and slightly edgy layout to indicate the flirty style of the party. The pouchette-style folder, tied with crimson satin bow, winked at the elegant intimacy of the boudoir sessions. The envelopes were addressed in red ombre – which provided an instant glimpse into the fun upon opening the mailbox. For kicks on the day of the shower, we added cards titled “A Bride and Her Squad – The true story of our friendship” that asked each guest to recall favorite moments with the bride. These cards are a perfect pairing with cocktails and snacks that are sure to segue into both laughter and happy tears, and will remain a precious keepsake for the bride for many years to come.
