Can You Feel the Love – Lion King Inspired Shoot
When I saw this Lion King Inspired Styled Shoot, I just knew that it had been designed for a couple who had a deep appreciation for nature and animals. There are so many details about this shoot that I’m in love with! As members of our local zoo, and a big lover of The Lion King, this shoot has really won me over and jumped straight to being one of my top 5 features of all time!!
The colour palette selected is very organic: using colours you would find in the jungle or savanna. The Santa Barbara Zoo served as the perfect backdrop, with flora and fauna brought in from all over the world, and intimate animal encounters for this gorgeous model couple. The planner says that “the couple we envisioned this wedding being for wants the style of their wedding to enhance their natural surrounding with a bohemian flair.”
The biggest inspiration for this stunning styled shoot was Disney’s The Lion King. “We love the story and the idea that two souls are destined for each other. We also felt that LOVE is the most natural part of the human experience and to showcase it somewhere in the natural world would let love itself take centre stage.”
“We wanted the colour palette and decor to be very neutral so we could showcase the environment and the couple themselves. We wanted it to be very lush and green like the “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” scene, but also incorporate some modern bohemian charm. A lot of the details and textures were also subtle nods to the other setting in The Lion King: the Pride Lands.”
“We went with creams and light mustard tones for the arrangement. In keeping with the natural theme, Besame Florals kept everything very organic with a low of loose greenery.”
Sierra from Sweet Art Bake Shop knew that the inspiration was The Lion King and transformed into a work of art. She paid tribute to the film by highlighting pattern and textures that were very thematic to the film. She made sure it felt elegant and natural, with a touch of whimsy.
The Bridal Gown inspiration came from watching the characters in the film move. “We wanted a wedding gown that was going to hug and contour every curve of our model’s body. So we selected a stunning Sottero & Midgley gown from our collection that has contouring shapewear build into its lining. SO as the model moved the dress never lost shape.”
The Groom needed to be organic and able to move. A traditional tuxedo wasn’t going to work with a jacket and bow tie. His look was kept simple, with a textured tan vest and tie.
“The tablescape was styled to highlight the natural textures of a lot of the pieces themselves. We did not want to cover the entire table with a full linen because we loved the texture it provided and wanted to keep it in its natural form. We hid different little elements like the elephant and the giraffe into the details of the tablescape to bring it back to The Lion King’s opening sequence. We kept the natural colour palette with pops of green and yellow, and also incorporated some bohemian details like rattan chairs, rattan candle holder and macrame stool.”
