Classic Southern Wedding in Chatham – Katherine & Daniel
Katherine and Daniel met for the first time when she was 17 and he was 20. Katherine was casually dating one of his friends when they were introduced at a small local pizza parlour, and she was immediately attracted to him. She parted ways with his friend shortly after, and a little over a year later they reconnected through social media. After their first date, they were inseparable and she knew he was the one early on in the relationship.
One Sunday afternoon in October, they were about to eat lunch per usual with Katherine’s family at her grandmother’s house. Daniel kept asking her to go for a walk while the food was being prepared, and she grudgingly agreed due to the hot sun. As they were walking, he kept telling her that he had a surprise for her. When they reached the end of the road, he dropped to one knee and asked her to spend forever with him. He chose this location due to her fond childhood memories that had been made in the same area.
This happy couple celebrated their marriage on June 8th, 2019 in Chatham, VA. The couple had a classic, southern affair complete with gorgeous florals and a gorgeous church ceremony. They celebrated with their family and friends at a small, intimate reception and were sent off in style in a Bentley.
The vision for their wedding included a classic theme, as Katherine established this shortly after choosing the venue. The cathedral vibe of Chatham Hall provided a royal feel to their wedding, and she chose a classic ballgown with soft pink colours to provide the romantic feel for the day. Their wedding was conveniently located in the small town of Chatham, Virginia, which is local and provided a central location for family members to travel easily.
For their attire choices, Katherine chose a classic ballgown with an A-line skirt to provide a princess vibe for her bridal look. Her cathedral veil accented her full dress perfectly and provided a gorgeous prop for photos and videos.
They attempted to focus on keeping the budget small throughout the wedding planning process, which is a choice that they do not regret. Katherine and Daniel chose to have an intimate wedding that included only close family and friends, which allowed them to save money in various aspects of the planning process. Katherine says that she splurged on her wedding dress and flowers, as she decided to choose quality instead of attempting to go with a cheaper option. They saved money in other areas such as decor, as they purchased various items from thrift stores and dollar stores and Katherine decorated them herself.
Before the ceremony, Katherine was a bundle of nerves as their wedding day began with a torrential downpour of rain. They also began the day by being a bit behind on schedule, which was stressful for her as she’s normally a meticulous planner. As the day went on, however, the rain let up and so did her stress levels. After the ceremony, her mood had completely changed and the rain had almost completely stopped. The rain ended up being a blessing in the end, as it allowed the temperatures to cool down which prevented Katherine from getting too hot in her long-sleeved gown. Having an intimate wedding provided them with the opportunity to share long-lasting memories with people who mean the most to them, so that is a choice they will never regret.
