Dreamy Calamigos Ranch Wedding – Mariah & Joey

Mariah and Joey reconnected after college through their matching Australian Shepherd puppies! We love that these beautiful pups were involved in their wedding day.

On October 10, 2015 they took their horses out for an afternoon ride and once they were at the top of a hill that overlooked their home town and the ocean, Joey got off of his horse and down on one knee! Mariah describes it as being “perfectly us”.

Mariah has always wanted an outdoor whimsical ceremony with their closest friends and families! Once she saw the outdoor space at Calamigos Ranch, tears instantly flooded her eyes and they never went to another venue! Joey and her both have a rustic western side but they wanted to balance our wedding with elegant and traditional elements, and we think they’ve achieved that.

Joey and his guys wore a light grey suit and Mariah’s girls wore soft pink long dresses. They wanted soft tones to complement the natural beauty of the dreamy Calamigos Ranch venue. Mariah’s dress was mermaid cut because Joeys always called her his little mermaid – we love that little personal touch.

When it came to planning, the most important thing to them was to find a photographer that would be able to capture all the moments they worked so hard on. They splurged on the wedding venue and all the upgrades but searched very hard to find all of the vendors that were in their budget so that their dream vision could come true. They said that they simply couldn’t skip a “day of coordinator” but they saved by doing all the booking and research themselves instead of hiring a full wedding planner.

The wedding cake was three layers with beautifully simple and elegant hand iced details. This happy couple also had a dessert bar that took up two tables one with traditional American desserts and one with Italian desserts!

Mariah and Joey hand made blankets for their outdoor ceremony because their wedding was held in early January. Each of their signs were painted and all of the favors were hand made. They even did their own calligraphy for the place-cards and table assignments. They made mason jars with “mint to be” labels and filled them with mints as favours. They also had keys as place cards in hope people would use them as ornaments for years to come.
