Enchanted Rock State Park Engagement – Amanda & Erik
Amanda and Erik were both attending Simpson College in 2009 and had only ever seen each other on campus in passing. Fleeting glances and whispers to friends was the only contact that was made between the two for almost a year, until a mutual friend asked Erik to invite Amanda to a get together they were having. Unfortunately, Amanda couldn’t attend but the two stayed in contact as a couple of weeks went by. Erik then invited Amanda to come meet him at the Iowa State Fair in August of 2009. It was there that they “officially” met one another face to face for the first time. From then on they were inseparable. 8 years 5 apartments and 2 states later they are finally saying I Do to forever!
Amanda knew he was the one for her after they had been through so much together, including the passing of her mother and him completing Vet School. Amanda had always wanted to do one of those “old-timey” photos you see at amusement parks, where you get dressed up, and finally, Erik took her there one day. He proposed to her, with the help of the staff and family, right there while getting their photos done! They will be getting married back home in Iowa next August at a theatre and a brewery for the reception.
These lovebirds are both huge movie buffs, there isn’t a week that goes by that they aren’t at the movie theatre. They’re also a couple of nerds in disguise, from their photos you wouldn’t think it but we are both huge Marvel, DC, Tolkien, and Pokemon fans! They also love to travel and experience new places and things together! Since they’ve been in a relationship they have travelled to many new states and even moved to one! But their absolute favourite thing to do together is to be giant couch potatoes. They love to curl up together with some junk food and binge watch Netflix!
They did their engagement session at Enchanted Rock in Texas, which perfectly sets the tone of their romantic wedding happening next year. We love the cactus ring photos – Amanda and Erik had gone ring shopping a few places and she found her absolute dream ring at one of them but it was a bit pricey! So she picked out a couple others that were in a better price range and left it at that. But Erik, of course, had to get Amanda what she wanted and got her that dream ring! It is a stunning white gold cluster halo set with almost 2 total Carats of round cut white diamonds!
