Engagement session at the beautiful Vizcaya Museum and Gardens – Kevin & Aaron
"We first met at work. Although we worked in different departments, we would see each other in the hall and would exchange a few words or share information regarding our participants. We are both extremely shy so it took some time before we actually had a real conversation with each other. I think that our relationship is special because we really complete each other. When one of us has an idea then the other automatically starts doing research to make it happen. Whether it's a trip we want to take or looking for options to further our education- we help keep each other on track. Our relationship is unique because as Kevin's brother in law said to us the second time we met, "You guys are dorky". He didn't mean it in a negative way, he could see that special bond that we have. knew that Kevin was the one when I had decided that I needed to leave the job that I loved dearly. I had a breakdown after I got a phone call when we were at dinner and I told him what had happened. I said, "I can't do this anymore- I'm done". This wasn't the first time I had thought about leaving but he knew that this time I was serious. He gave me a kiss and said, "Ok- if this is how you feel then I support you 100%, what kind of job do you want to look for". He got on his phone and started looking for potential job openings. He is always thinking one step ahead and supporting me. Kevin proposed on my birthday. He took me to the fine dining area at Anson 11 which is an upscale restaurant. I had asked him not to spend a lot of money because I wanted us to save money for our vacation. Kevin pulled out all the stops, he asked if he could order for us and I agreed- he ordered the 5-course tasting menu which included a wine pairing with each plate. When it was time for dessert, he said- "I know you didn't want me to spend a lot of money tonight but I don't see it as spending a lot of money- I see it as spending the rest of my life with you". I gave him a puzzled look and then the waiter presented me with a dessert plate which had "Will you marry me" written on it in chocolate. I started to 'ugly cry' as Kevin got on his knee and asked me himself. It was a total surprise. Kevin had called the restaurant beforehand and gave them all the details of how he wanted everything to happen."
"My engagement ring is a white gold band with seven dazzling diamonds in a row which I immediately fell in love with-it's totally me. Another reason why I love Kevin is because he is so patient. The night after he proposed I started looking for venues and décor ideas. Within the first week we went to numerous venues and in less than 2 months after the engagement, we have everything booked with the exception of the cake- we have a tasting appointment this coming week to finalize this last element."
