Fairview Farms weddings – Kaylee & Curtis

Kaylee and Curtis met in college at James Madison University freshman year in a history class in the same building where his parents met at JMU. They just happen to also both be from the same home town (a suburb of Richmond VA). When it came to the proposal, Curtis booked the cutest tiny house in big island Virginia for a weekend get away. They went on a 6 mile hike (which was way too hard for them, they almost turned back multiple times) and at the look out Curtis proposed!

Their wedding was slate blues and greens. Kaylee wanted it to be a mix of elegant but rustic so it was on a farm in a barn. The girls wore long flowy dresses and the guys wore grey pants and vests. Curtis had a tie matching the bridesmaids dresses.

Family was the most important to them during planning followed by food and drink of course! They splurged by having both a 4 tier cake and a gelato cart. Their wedding cake was different on each layer – it had lemon pound cake, carrot cake, vanilla and chocolate. The topper was a lladro bride and groom that was Kaylee’s mother and fathers cake topper as well.

DIY, handmade and personal details included the seating chart cards and board made by Kaylee. She created all the signs (welcome and aisle signs). Her aunts created the curtains on the gazebo with out hooks or nails. Uzella (the family friend who did Kaylee’s flowers) hid a fly lure in her bouquet that matched the fly on Curtis’s boutonnière. Each table was the name of an “adventure” they had been on from hikes to camping out, first apartment and street of their first house. The theme was ‘and so the adventure begins’. The seating chart said “find your adventure”.
On the rememberance cabinet with all the photos of passed family members my grandmothers mantilla was draped over the cabinet. It is also a swaim (Kaylee’s mother’s family) tradition to wear some sort of head piece at the end of the wedding (Kaylee wore antennae headbands).
