Hawaiian Inspired Styled Wedding in the Countryside

“Lots of love, time and thought went into this styled shoot! The inspiration for this shoot came from my moms trip to Hawaii this last spring. Every day, she’d send me tons of photos, and I was absolutely in love with the colours, lush greenery and florals, and just the whole Hawaiian vibe in general (really, who wouldn’t be though, right!?). It would be an absolute dream to photograph in Hawaii, but unfortunately, that’s not always a reality, as I’m sure it’s not the reality of many brides wishing to get married in a beautiful place such as Hawaii. So, I started to think about how I could bring a taste of Hawaii to Connecticut! Ironically, Megan and Mike (Megan is a friend and fellow creative of Coppola Creative) just got back from their honeymoon in Hawaii, so they were totally on board to be the bride and groom, and were even able to help out with some details of the session.”

So many people picture Hawaii as just ocean and dramatic cliffs, but there’s more to Hawaii – there are also the rolling hills and farmland, so for this Hawaiian inspired styled wedding shoot, there was a unique and appropriate idea to include some adorable farm animals and pups (literal puppies!). We love that this styled shoot shows how brides and grooms can bring the things they love about their favourite destinations and combine it with where they live. Connecticut has a gorgeous countryside, so this was the perfect combination!

Although this was a styled shoot, there were lots of sentimental elements as well – such as the Marquise cut engagement ring Mike gave to Megan (it has passed down through their family!), to the seashell lei Megan and Mike wore on their own honeymoon, which was incorporated into detail shots. When working with the bridal dress designer to choose Megan’s wedding dress, the styled shoot team made sure it would provide a fun vibe, while still providing lots of flow and elegance. They wanted something that wouldn’t be over the top, as they wanted the florals to pop, and people don’t typically picture over the top wedding dresses for Hawaiian weddings, or countryside weddings either!

One of the final touches the team wanted to include were food details. Sometimes, styled shoots are missing food, so they wanted to make sure to include this. For this portion, there was a colourful arrangement of finger foods, which the team thought went well with the colours and vibe of the styled shoot.

We’d suggest for any bride and groom who are animal lovers, to try to combine animals into their wedding somehow. Animals always provide huge smiles and so much love, and are the perfect way to add a special touch to a wedding day!
