John Joseph Inn The Elizabeth Restaurant Wedding – Erin & Patrick

Erin and Patrick say that their story is always fun to tell because they “met” on a Saturday night in January 2015 when they were out with friends, but they both knew one another for a few years before that. Patrick went to Virginia Tech with a good friend that Erin met while working at Cvent, the job that brought her to DC/VA in 2010. They had been around each other plenty of times at parties, weddings and other get-togethers, but they never said more than “hey how’s it going?” to each other. Patrick likes to say that he didn’t think Erin knew his name, while Erin claims she was the one that always would say “Hi Patrick!” to him first when they ran into each other. Either way, once they finally hit it off, it didn’t take long for them to make things official.

Fast forward to September 2015, and Patrick was moving to Denver, CO for a great work opportunity. They had many emails, FaceTime dates, and phone conversations going back and forth about if/when Erin could move out to Denver so that they could be together again. Finally, in January 2016, Erin made the cross-country trek out to Denver to be with Patrick.

And as luck would have it – after spending about a year out in Denver – they moved back to the DC area for another new job opportunity for Patrick. They are now settled into our new place in Arlington, VA and have been enjoying making it their first home together – and looking forward to staying put for a few years!

It was the beautiful nature of the John Joseph Inn itself in combination with John’s genuine and authentic personality that made them choose this as a wedding venue. When Erin and Patrick first started talking about what they were looking for in a venue, they wanted to find somewhere close to where they both grew up (Rochester, NY – Erin & State College, PA – Patrick). They hoped for a venue that would allow for a more intimate wedding where they would be the only wedding on site and be able to throw an awesome celebration that was authentic to them as a couple. “We both have huge families, so we knew it was going to be hard to find a venue that could fit 200+ guests and still provide the more intimate setting we were looking for. So, when I came across John Joseph Inn online, I immediately got excited because it had everything we were looking for at first glance – it would allow us and our immediate families to stay there over the weekend, it was set on a beautiful property that we wouldn’t have to share with any other wedding/group over the weekend, we were able to have our ceremony onsite in the gorgeous gardens, and we also read online that John’s food was delicious. Then, when we visited John Joseph Inn a few days after Christmas 2016, we met John and immediately connected with him, and his passion for the industry and his venue. We could tell that he genuinely wanted to make sure that our wedding would be perfect for us and what we envisioned. We saw the venue for the first time during the winter and had to look past the gray skies and cold, snowy weather, but it was very easy to do just by walking around the property with John and listening to him explain every detail to help us picture how our wedding day would unfold if we chose JJI. Now looking back on September 2nd, Patrick and I absolutely cannot picture a better venue for our wedding and celebration, and we are so incredibly happy that we chose to work with John and the John Joseph Inn!”
