June Belle Mer Wedding – Kathryn & Stephen

Kathryn and Stephen met through a friend. They had all gone out together one night with no intentions of being set up but they met each other and started talking and they dated for about six years before getting engaged! Stephen took Kathryn to Marina Bay in Quincy, MA which is a beautiful spot right on the water where they had their first date. They sat at the same table they sat at on their first date. After dinner they walked around the water and he dropped on one knee! Kathryn sais that it was perfect and very sentimental for them!

Their wedding was perfect. The colour palette was blush pink, white, and a bit of gold. They didn’t really stick to a specific theme but because their wedding was in Newport, RI they tried to bring some nautical aspects to the wedding. They’re both Catholic so they did have the wedding ceremony in a church in Newport. The priest is actually a family friend that has married generations of couples from their family so that was special to Kathryn and Stephen. They decorated the church with two large floral pieces at the altar, which looked fantastic. They were understated but really looked great next to the bride and groom at the front of the church. The reception decor for the reception was mainly florals and some pieces such as table numbers that they designed themselves. For their guest seating arrangements, they had a friend write them on a gorgeous gold mirror that was placed in the cocktail hour space.

The florals for this wedding were a mixture of white and light pink flowers with a lot of greenery. They used peonies, hydrangeas, ranunculus, and some white roses. They wanted the greenery in the bouquets to compliment the blush bridesmaids dresses. The centerpieces were simple arrangements of the same flowers in a silver bowl that looked gorgeous against the white walls and tables of Belle Mer.

Kathryn says that one of the most special moments for them were the first dances. “My father and I won a father daughter dance in 8th grade to the twist so we had to somehow incorporate that into our dance together. We started off with a slow dance to “my wish” by the Rascall flatts and then broke into a twist which people loved and it was so fun out there on the dance floor for us! The bride and grooms first dance was to “Smile” by Uncle Kracker which was a very special song to us because my husband always used to say the song reminded him of me because I had the best smile and whenever this song would come on the radio he’d think of me!”

The bride’s dress was designed by Amsale and it was purchased from Nordstrom. Believe it or not it was the first dress she tried on and nothing could beat it! The dress had a lace bodice with a sheer lace back and sheer lace straps. The bottom of the dress had a horsehair hem that gave the dress a lot of flow and body. A jewel belt was sewn into the middle of the gown for some added bling. The groom used Men’s Wearhouse for his tuxedo. We went with a dark grey tux because it complimented well with the light pink dresses of the bridesmaids. After much perusing on Pinterest to find the right colour combos! The groom wore a white tie with a grey vest.
