Maroon & Dusty Blue Outdoor Fall Wedding – Shelley & Dru

Shelley and Dru met at Myrtle Beach for the first time through mutual friends. Shelley says that “Dru actually had a girlfriend at the time, but I knew when I first saw him that I loved him. I never believed in love at first sight until I met him, but it’s just like they say, it only takes one time.”

“A couple years later after much turmoil in our other relationships, Dru randomly texted me “good morning beautiful,” one morning. I was actually at home for the summer in Lancaster, and he was still in Columbia, about an hour and a half drive. He drove all the way to get me just to take me out in lancaster one night to this tiny little hole in the wall restaurant called Grinders, which we both loved, for dinner. He told me he had finally come to his senses and that he wanted to give this a try. And the rest I guess you could say is history.” They love watching new shows on Netflix together, to cook together, to take trips together, they enjoy taking our dog Phoebe for walks/runs, and they’re board game FANATICS (the old ones like scrabble, monopoly, guess who, clue, things of that nature).

When it came to the proposal, Shelley told the story: “Dru and I go to the state fair every year in October. Either with friends, by ourselves, or with my Dad and his family. This year was extra special because at the top of the ferris wheel overlooking the city, he got done on one knee in this little pod and asked me to be his wife. It was so sentimental to me and I’ll never ever forget that night.”

Their wedding day was emotional and sweet; the perfect Southern wedding day. The Ole Oak Barn Wedding and Event venue was the perfect setting for this happy couple to finally tie the knot!

Shelley got ready for her wedding day surrounded by her mom and closest girlfriends. She wore a stunning wedding gown with an elegant high neck, and she looked exactly like the perfect Southern bride you’d find in any magazine. Dru wore a navy blue linen suit that complimented him handsomely, and we loved the way Shelley and Dru’s chosen colours came together through the day. Dru prepared to marry his best friend surrounded by his father and his closest friends, as well.

They were married in an emotional ceremony outside The Ole Oak Barn where the first few rows were antique church pews instead of chairs. The pews brought in the feeling of reverence and the vibe of being in a church for a ceremony, just outside.

These two even wrote their own vows on their wedding day, and there was not a dry eye in the entire congregation as they made their promises to one another! They even wiped tears away from each other’s faces as they spoke – super sweet.
