The Millstone at Adam’s Pond Wedding – Jessica & Blake

Jessica and Blake met while living in Moultrie, Georgi. Jessica moved down to Southwest Georgia in 2014 and Blake was drawn to the area by his brother and family who lived there. They met shortly after she moved there (on Tinder!) and they were inseparable. Disney World is Jessica’s absolute favorite place on this planet and they took their first trip together in June of 2015 and she told Blake that she would die if they got engaged at Disney under the fireworks. Fast forward to January 9th, 2016, circa 10 PM under the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom, and Blake got down on one knee and asked Jessica to be his princess for the rest of his life.

They say that their wedding venue was truly the inspiration for their big day. The grounds of the Millstone at Adams Pond are just so raw and pretty, the house is just an added bonus. Jessica wanted a very simple, yet elegant, but boho vibe for their special day and the back lawn with the Spanish moss just completely won her over! She loves everything gold, so when she found the bridsmaids’ dresses, it pretty much sealed the deal as gold and white for their colour palette.

Their Millstone at Adam’s Pond Wedding was half indoor and half outdoor, and the space really spoke for itself. They had their florist line the railing with a simple green garland, strung some cafe lighting and just let the pond and the great outdoors provide the ambiance. Jessica DIY’d a few things for the wedding, she really loved the idea of having a his/hers drinks for the bar, so they did a Georgia beer as ‘his’ and a South Carolina cider as ‘hers’ and she made a his/hers sign for each side. She also DIY’d their ‘guest globe’ which turned out super cute! As another personal touch, she also hand-stitched handkerchiefs for her mother-in-law, and both of her parents.

For the florals, Jessica absolutely loves huge bouquets, and hers was no exception (and also super heavy). Peonies are one of her favourites and they were in season, so those were a must-have in her bouquet. She also did rose petals lining the aisle to add a romantic vibe to the ceremony space, a garland lining the staircase to the back patio and centerpieces for all of the tables. Florals add a personal touch and really give guests an insight into the bride’s personality – no two brides will ever have the same bouquet and every floral design is different from bride to bride!

When asked if they personalised their day in any way, Jessica said that Blake is obsessed with hot sauce – “I mean, literally douses everything in hot sauce before he eats it. so we had little mini Crystals bottles as our favors.  Other than that, I wrote our entire ceremony, but we kept it pretty traditional, otherwise!”

For their attire, Jessica says she found Daughters of Simone right after they got engaged and absolutely fell in love with the off-the-shoulder look. “I knew immediately which dress I wanted, and thankfully Ivory & Beau in Savannah carried the line! I wanted my girls to wear something that they could wear again, that wouldn’t break the bank and would look great on all body types. I found their dresses at Lulu’s online, and let me tell you–they were flattering on each of them, cost about 1/4 the price of traditional chiffon, boring bridesmaids dress and they all killed it! When Blake and I began to discuss his look, we agreed that it wasn’t fair for me to have a different dress than all of my girls and for him to wear the same thing as all of his guys. I fell in love with chambray suits, and we ended up finding his at Macy’s on sale–Score! For his guys, we used Generation Tux, which is very similar to Rent the Runway, but for tuxes and suits! They sent us samples, we picked out the color and they all just went on and entered their measurements and the suits showed up at their door a few days before the wedding!”

Blake and Jessica did not see each other past midnight the night before their Millstone at Adam’s Pond wedding. They didn’t talk to each other, they slept in separate hotel rooms, they didn’t text, they had no communication with each other whatsoever until they said their vows. “When you live with your significant other, eat together, and do every little thing with each other, going more than 18 hours not speaking is a big feat! Something else that was super special and recommended by Lakyn from Southern Way was taking a little break for 15-20 minutes together right after pictures as our first moments as man and wife. We were shuffled upstairs of the venue, signed our marriage certificate with our officiant and then were left alone with our own platter of food for a little while. It was SO worth it, you always hear how couples never get to eat at their own wedding and had it not been for that little break, we probably wouldn’t have!”

Jessica and Blake’s wedding was picture perfect with all the beautiful details. The golds the peaches, the details that were so personal to them, and their love and personality was so apparent everywhere you looked.
