Oceanside in the Fall – Jacqueline & Huie
Jacqueline and Huie met working at Publix in college and once they’d been together for a while, Huie popped the question when they were supposed to go to the beach for lunch one day, but Jacqueline kept saying how she didn’t feel like going because they had too many things to do around the house. Luckily, he convinced her to go! They got to the beach and he said he wanted to walk on the beach before lunch. They walked down, put their feet in the water, and then as they were walking back up the beach again, he started saying how much he loved her… and from there it was a blur. Before you know it, he was down on one knee, asking her to marry him! Jacqueline says that she couldn’t believe this was happening, “it was such a wonderful moment we shared together. Then these two people come walking towards us, and it was actually two of his friends who were sitting under an umbrella, pretending to be beach goers, and they took pictures and videoed the whole thing! We didn’t even get lunch after that, we were too excited, we drove home to tell family and friends right away!”
When it came to planning their wedding, they wanted something that was timeless, romantic, elegant and chic. Jacqueline is originally from New Jersey and Huie is from Florida. One of their guests said that the wedding was the perfect blend of both State backgrounds. It mixed aspects of a formal New Jersey style wedding, and a more relaxed Florida vibe. The main colour of the wedding was a light, airy, blue. There was also pops of blush, white, greenery and champagne gold. The colours were vibrant, without being too overpowering. Greenery was included in the colour scheme because including greenery in the centrepieces and paper goods was such a focal point.
Huie knew immediately that he wanted to wear navy blue suits and brown shoes, so he was easy! Jacqueline also had a vision of wearing a mermaid or fit and flair styled gown, but she was open to trying all different styles.
The most important part of the wedding to them was definitely the food, drinks and music! They knew the wedding was going to be beautiful, that was never a major concern. They wanted to make sure that their guests enjoyed themselves, had enough to eat and drink, and never left the dance floor!
Jacqueline says that she was obsessed with their wedding flowers! “They were absolutely stunning and I still to this day swoon over my bouquet! I wanted greenery, white flowers, with pops of color. On the long tables we went with greenery garlands that had flowers intertwined and different candles and votives. On the King’s table, we also had glass vases that held the bridesmaids bouquets. This was a budget friendly way to add more flowers to the table, as well as give the centerpieces height and dimension. The round tables had glass vases, and the aisle bouquets from the ceremony!”
Their wedding cake was delicious and beautiful! Again, they wanted something elegant, chic and stunning. They kept it simple with a 4 layer cake, covered in buttercream with the detail design done in the same colour buttercream. The focal point of the cake were the flowers! They also had a gold dainty cursive “B” cake topper. The cake itself was vanilla, but each layer had different filing, alternating between cannoli and hazelnut cream cheese. They had so much cake leftover, so they were able to enjoy it even more with the family the next day!
