Phoenixville Country Club Wedding – Jessie & Phil
Jessie and Phil met on Christian Mingle and Jessie says “it was both of our first time ever on a dating website. We were also each others only date from the website”. Their first date was at the Camden Aquarium and then Phil brought her back there years later to pop the question. They love staying at home and having quiet weekends and absolutely love making brunch together that it was the theme for their wedding. They didn’t want to have a “cookie cutter” wedding. Their main goal for the wedding was to be light, airy and full of joy! They both wanted the inside of the venue to be sunny and bright. “At the end of the day we just wanted our guests to laugh a lot and eat a lot!”
“One of the first things we agreed on was a brunch wedding! Who doesn’t love brunch and mimosas?! We also went with a citrus theme because we thought lemons and oranges were a good visual to have on invites and centerpieces. Yellow and Green were the main colors. Yellow is Jessie’s favorite color and Phil’s is green, plus the colors were great for Spring.”
Jessie wanted a simple clean light weight A-line dress. She says that she didn’t want anything to blingy or to “on trend” she wanted to look back at her dress in 40 years and still love it.
Phil wanted to wear a simple medium grey suit because he thought that would compliment the theme of the wedding. Simple and classic. Grey was also going to go well with the yellow and green colour scheme. Black would have been too bold of a colour.
“One of the most important things while planning the wedding was being realistic. Pinterest and wedding magazines can be dangerous when it comes to expectations and budget. It was also important to us to stick to our theme and just do what we wanted to do when it came to the vision of our unique day!”
Their wedding was very much a “Homemade wedding” one of their close friends married them, the DJ was a friend of Phil’s, the bride knew the florist and the invitations were made by one of Jessie’s childhood friends. “That helped a lot with the budget! I guess we splurged a little on our photographer, the wedding photos are one of the most important things to us. After all, that’s the only proof you even had a cute wedding!”
Jessie and Phil wanted to stick with the colour theme of yellows and greens. Jessie described what she wanted her bouquet to be like she was “holding a ball of sunshine”. Their goal was to have fun flowers at their wedding. They wanted people just to smile when they saw the centerpieces with daisies, pom poms and some greenery.
When it came to picking a cake, they said that it was an easy decision because they’ve had cakes from the bakery before. They wanted something light for a cake flavour since it was going to be around 2pm. So they thought vanilla cake with raspberry filling was an excellent choice! Everyone loved it, they even had extra cake and people took some slices home. Not one “to-go” box was left.
They decided on using tea as a wedding favour, thinking it would fit the theme. The wedding favours were from a mutual friends parents store called Le Butlers Pantry in Skippack, PA. The bride and her mom (with some help from the groom) poured all the loose leaf tea, bagged it and labeled the teas. They had four different teas, a flavour for everyone!
When it came to DIY and personal details, the couple thought that the name cards were a very fun idea. “We thought it would be a unique twist, plus it went with the theme!” Some of the signs were the brides sisters from her wedding. They decided to have a Sunday Crossword Puzzle on each plate, get it, people love playing the Sunday crossword during breakfast? The questions were about Jessie and Phil as a couple, and some individual questions. Some of the clues were in the wedding programs and around the wedding venue. “We thought it would be a conversation piece for all the tables.”
