Silver Sage Wedding at The Barn At Silverstone – Angelina & Jake

Angelina and Jake’s story all began on Facebook! As a former cheerleader, Angelina says that she has always had a thing for football players. That didn’t change as she entered into her freshman year of college, and #49 caught her eye. “I boldly added Jake as a friend because well.. I thought he was cute! After a few exchanges of likes on Facebook, Jake mustered up the courage to message me. “Hey, do I know you?” … “I don’t think so, but we go to the same school!”. Way to state the obvious Ang… but it worked! We talked all night about sports, Finding Nemo and food. All of my favorites! By the end of the conversation, we exchanged numbers in hopes of hearing from each other soon. I was smitten and texted my friends in excitement about this “football player” I was talking to! About 30 minutes later, Jake was texting my phone to continue our conversation. Now here we are 7 years later and we haven’t missed a day of talking to each other!”

It was their five year anniversary when Jake proposed. They enjoyed taking trips up Mt. Lemmon in Tucson, AZ in order to get away from the Arizona heat and enjoy the beautiful views Mt. Lemmon has to offer. Jake wanted to keep everything a surprise but had to show he at least remembered their anniversary, because that’s never a good idea to forget! So he made reservations at a nice restaurant, just enough to show he was thinking about their anniversary. Then he suggested that they go up to Mt. Lemmon “just for something to do” during the day. But he still wasn’t convinced she wasn’t anticipating something. So to throw another curveball, they drove all the way to the top of the mountain, (I mean if you’re going to propose it’s going to be at the top right??) and just had lunch. So hoping her expectations were dropping as their elevation did, they stopped at Windy Point which had amazing views. As they got out of the truck Jake’s heart was pounding out of his chest. They made their way to a rock that you can see all of Tucson when he finally tipped his hand (which was really just a matter of seconds). Jake suggested that they take a picture, then he insisted on using his phone by asking a stranger. He quickly switched it to video as he gave the girl his phone. “I think I blacked out for the next minute or two but I’m pretty sure she said yes! On to the rest of our lives together!”

When it came to their wedding vision, Angelina describes it as “simple elegance”. That term became a running joke as she would say it any time someone asked her anything about the wedding. Jake and Angelina wanted an outdoor ceremony and wanted to find a location close to home for both of them. They fell in love with the barn look along with a bit of boho chic. Their vision fell perfectly together when they found the location In Lancaster, PA at the Barn at Silverstone.

Angelina’s dress was a sheath style gown with a gorgeous back detail. “I love back details on dresses and just that “wow” factor. The lace was the perfect look.”
For the bridesmaids, she wanted something different and when she came across Show me your Mumu’s silver sage dresses she knew that screamed “simple elegance”.

The most important part of their big days was the wedding ceremony. They wanted a sacred ceremony to truly show the meaning of why they were getting married. God brought them together and on that day they became one with God as their witness.

They splurges on their wedding venue because it truly was an amazing place that had everything they could’ve dreamt of. The outdoor ceremony with the water fountain and goats in the background with a fireplace mantle backdrop. It truly was a dream come true.

When asked what their favourite parts of the wedding day were, Angelina said, “seeing Jake as I walked down the aisle hand in hand with my mom and pop pop. Jake’s reaction melted my heart, I mean what girl doesn’t want their future husband to break down in tears as they walk down the aisle.”

“The ceremony as more than we could have dreamed of. It was a very rainy day and our hopes of having our ceremony outside were slowing dwindling away as our ceremony time was approaching. My gut told me to just keep it outside and prayed that the storms would past. It poured raining until about 5 minutes before our ceremony. I started to cry as I looked out the window because the sun was shining so brightly and all clouds had passed! It was such a blessing and our ceremony turned out perfect.”

“Funny Story: After my mom buttoned up the back of my dress it was time for my Maid of Honor, my bestfriend Joie, to come in the room and help me with . my shoes and garter. Joie walked into the room and her reaction was priceless. It was as if we had our own first look LOL. Also, check out her reaction after we were pronounced husband and wife.”

They included personal touches to their day such as DIY invitations, table numbers, menus, and wedding signs. Jake’s dad made the wooden guest book frame, the cross that sat on the fireplace and the platform where the sweetheart table sat. Angelina’s Nanny’s rosaries hung from her wedding bouquet, and she had her Great Grandmother’s gold pin on the inside of her wedding dress. And one of our favourite details was Jake and Angelina’s tree planting ceremony where they both dug up dirt from their hometowns in Philadelphia and Glenville, PA. They placed the dirt into a pot with a tree to continue to grow in years to come!
