Stunning Winery Wedding – Sarah & Doug

Sarah and Doug met 5 years ago through their best friends, who had been married for a couple of years at the time. They waited for the perfect time to introduce them, and the four of them double dated for their first few dates.

When it came to the proposal, Doug had picked a day for them to go on a hike, and it ended up being a very cloudy drizzly PNW day. They drove to a lookout near Leavenworth where Doug was hoping they would get a bit better whether, but they ended up hiking in the clouds. When they got to the top he got down on one knee, and the couple that introduced them surprised them with champagne after Sarah had said yes! They’d been sneakily taking photos the whole time!

Both Doug and Sarah are from Western Washington, however they love the beautiful rolling hills and wine country in Eastern Washington. They also liked that the weather in Eastern Washington is a little sunnier and more predictable, so they were ecstatic to stumble upon Fontaine Estates as their final venue after a long day of looking. It was the perfect winery venue for them with a beautiful rustic building on site for the reception. Sarah’s goal was to achieve more of a rustic elegant look – She wanted to dress up the reception area with some big floral arrangements and pretty tableware. She says that she has always loved the dusty blue colour, and she liked pairing the blue with the softer charcoal grey, sage, and blush.

“My bridesmaids were in a dusty blue long dress, and the groomsmen were in dark charcoal gray suits. I wanted a dress that I felt comfortable and myself in but also fit the “winery” theme, and I thought the lace detail and train fit the venue so well!”

Whilst planning, Sarah and Doug’s biggest priority was having a venue that could be beautiful and comfortable regardless of the weather – Fontaine Estates was the perfect venue for them because they knew that no matter what the weather situation was, the venue was a beautiful spot that could’ve accommodated anything that day. Thankfully they were blessed with a beautiful, rain-less, not overly warm day. Eastern Washington also is such a special place for both of them where they both feel the most at ease and relaxed. Sarah says that she finds it so special that they got married out in the beautiful rolling hills and wine country that they love so much!

“We skipped cake so that we could splurge on donuts and ice cream! Neither of us are wedding cake fans and we both wanted more time to dance and visit, so we opted out of a cake cutting and had a donut/cookie/ice cream bar instead (ice cream for Doug, donuts for me, cookies as a happy medium!)”

When asked about the wedding flowers, Sarah says that their “florist was AMAZING. I told him my basic ideas as far as having a few big arrangement centerpieces to add some volume to the reception space and he took this idea and ran with it in a beautiful but also cost effective way. He used beautiful big greenery centerpieces for 5-6 of the tables and elegant mercury vases to hold the rest of the smaller floral centerpieces and I truly think that he helped to really make the venue the beautiful, rustic-elegant that I was going for. My bouquet was absolutely gorgeous and so unique– it added the perfect amount of greenery and colour!”

“My most favorite part was our first look. I was so ready to see Doug after a long day of getting ready and was getting pretty nervous, and his reaction when he turned around to look at me was just such a sweet memory. That first look totally calmed my nerves and made me feel so excited and ready for the big celebration that was to follow. The pictures Misty captured of this moment are my most favourite pictures!”

Doug’s favourite part was the wedding ceremony, “the officiant David did such an awesome job and his words and prayers really resonated with both of us. He and his wife, Kelli, were awesome pre-marital counsellors and we felt so blessed to have him marry us.”

They also so enjoyed the party that followed the ceremony with their family and friends. They danced the night away and just had the greatest time with everyone. They did not want the night to end!
