Linden and Michael met at a mutual friend’s 21st birthday back in 2010 and here they are now… Last week was their 7 year anniversary! This lovely Australian couple had a Sunshine Coast wedding in Queensland.
For their wedding they set themselves a budget which they stuck to, for the most part… Linden said “There was no one or two big things I can say we did to save money but it was just bits here and there. We got our invitation etc digital designs made for DIY printing. We also worked with our vendors to get the best prices for what we wanted, and even tweaked things like bouquet size and amount of decoration on the cake to make it happen.”
They splurged on Linden’s dress (definitely worth it!) and her wedding ring – she had a very specific image in her head and wanted it to match her engagement ring so they had it specially made by the same place Michael got the engagement ring from.
Linden says that there were so many great times throughout their wedding day, but one of her favourites was their first look! She describes herself as “a very emotional person (when I feel an emotion to the extreme it often manifests itself in tears) I was worried about how I’d handle my emotions on the day and deal with all the anticipation and butterfly-type nerves. So I suggested we have a first look before the ceremony to take the edge off my emotions and also get some ‘us time’ in before it became all about celebrating with our family and friends. The first look was amazing – my emotions were running high so it was perfect in that it gave me the opportunity to settle them and come back to earth. And it was lovely to have that moment, just Michael and I. It was everything I wanted it to be/do and more! With all the anticipation and butterflies out of the way I was able to make it through the ceremony with only a few tears at the start of my vows. Haha.”
We absolutely love first looks because you actually get to have some intimate time on your wedding day with your partner. Most people don’t realise that when you come down the aisle and totally shock your other half with your gorgeous-ness… they can’t even tell you how amazing you look. They can’t touch you, embrace you or even speak to you. You have to wait until 30 minutes later when the ceremony is over for a reaction and to be told you how amazing you look. And after 30 minutes of the ceremony, the reaction isn’t the same as the initial first glance.
Everything they chose for the wedding was along the lines of classic and easy elegance and fit in with their easy going personality as a couple. There were lots of little subtle details throughout Linden and Michaels special day – Linden wore her grandmother’s garter which was 65 years old last year. And the opal pendant her grandfather gave her grandmother on their wedding day was pinned to her bouquet. Michael and the boys had personalised cuff links and socks.
You can see in the photographs below that Michael and Linden had photos taken with wedding photos of their parents. And at the reception they had wedding photos of both their parents and all four of their grandparents set up. Super sweet touches like these really get to us…
Linden and Michael left for a two-week honeymoon in Hawaii the next night, splitting their time between Lahaina on Maui, Kona on The Big Island and Waikiki and Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu. They chose Hawaii because they wanted a place where we could relax when we wanted to, as well as be able to explore and have activities to do when they felt like keeping busy. – Our perfect kind of couple!
