The Farm at Swan’s Trail Wedding – Jordan & Brett

Brett and Jordan met as many millennial couples are meeting these days, online. After a couple days of good conversation they decided to set up a date at a local Mexican restaurant. Jordan is usually always early but made sure to be fashionably late as she was very nervous. Brett was shocked when she sat down and ordered a tall beer and they completely hit it off from there. Two days later they went hiking and the rest was history!

Jordan says that she’s not a very romantic person, and neither is Brett, but small gestures go a very long way. After about 2 years of dating she followed Brett to Arizona where they found a home and began a new life in a new state. A year came and went and they fell further in love with each other and Arizona. Come December 2017, during hunting season, Brett came home from a long week away having successfully gotten his first elk! He got home, cracked the garage door open and shouted “come look what I got, this thing is huge!” Jordan ran to the door, opened it and he was down on one knee, dressed in camouflage with a huge smile and said, “Jordan will you marry me?” Jordan covered her mouth in shock and returned a huge smile as she said, “yes!”

They live in Arizona but came home to be around all of their family and friends. They are both very laid back and wanted a fun, outdoor venue that would offer a rustic and romantic vibe. Jordan actually let Brett pick out their wedding colours as she was not set on one particular theme. He went to Washington State University and immediately stated he wanted crimson and grey! Jordan modified the colours just a little and they went with “berry tones and greenery” with the groomsmen dressed in grey and pops of crimson amongst lighter floral tones. When they were first dating they became craft beer lovers and had a craft beer wedding. The rustic and laid and vibe of the venue supported this theme perfectly.

When it came to their attire, Jordan bought a very simple dress and had her mother ship her down her wedding dress to Arizona. She took it to a tailor and had the appliqués taken off of her bodice and added to the waist band of her own dress. The tailor then also turned her mother’s train into Jordan’s vail, it was perfect! “I wanted a neutral tone for my bridesmaids and they looked beautiful in blush. My husband picked the groomsmen suits, with my approval of course, and they were crimson and grey per his preference.”

The most important thing for Brett and Jordan while wedding planning was flexibility. Living in Arizona and planning a wedding in Washington was tricky but they had the help of Jordan’s mother and sister. She actually never personally viewed their wedding venue until one month prior to the wedding day. Months prior, her mother and sister went to venue tours and showed her on their phone via FaceTime!

On their wedding day, Jordan says that she was nervous about the weather report as August 2018 was actually very smokey from the summer fires. Miraculously, the smoke completely cleared out on their wedding day and it was a beautiful sunny day. “Everything completely went off without a hitch and marrying my best friend was absolutely perfect. I danced the night away, the food was delicious, beer flowed heavily and I was with family and friends whom I don’t normally get to visit as often as I used to, now living down south.”

For their florals, this was one item they did not splurge on and actually do not regret the route they took. They ordered flower arrangements from Costco! The day prior Jordan’s mother, sister and her split arrangements into smaller bouquets for the bridesmaids. The Boutonnières were ordered with small beer hops underneath white roses. Faux hops lined the bridal party table and no one could tell the difference. “This would be a decision I would repeat!”

We skipped the traditional wedding cake and Brett decided on their dessert of choice. Neither of them are big cake fans but he absolutely loves red velvet and chocolate chip cookies. They had a tier of chocolate chip cookies and cream cheese red velvet cupcakes – this made it easy for guest to grab and they were absolutely delicious.

There were no wedding favours but on each place setting was a little thank you note, and during their wedding rehearsal the couple gave small gifts to their closest friends and family members, unique craft beers and heart shaped bottle openers.

On their wedding day, on each table they had wood rounds and beer bottles wrapped in twine. Jordan’s father cut the wood rounds and her mother wrapped large beer bottles in twine.
