The Snow Queen
Loosely based on the fairy tale of Hans Christian Andersen, this collaboration between luxe florist Fleur Provocateur, and Apple and Bramble Events; tells the story of the Snow Queen remaining beautiful and graceful, but with full of life and youth.
“This flake grew bigger and bigger until at last, it turned into a woman, who was dressed in the finest white gauze which looked as if it had been made from millions of star-shaped flakes. She was beautiful and she was graceful, but she was ice-shining, glittering ice. She was alive, for all that, and her eyes sparkled like two bright stars, but in them, there was neither rest nor peace. She nodded toward the window and beckoned with her hand. The little boy was frightened, and as he jumped down from the chair it seemed to him that a huge bird flew past the window.”
The flowers curated by Fleur Provocateur are an accurate representation of what is available. The lavender, Senecio, magnolia and quince are foraged from the hedgerows. Broom and anemones typify the earliest available blooms. The glacial grey tones of grey and white echoed the Winter spell, while the spray rose Mansfield Park and Narcissus, indicated the emergence of Spring. The beautiful Georgian fireplace lent itself perfectly to the organic mantle installation.
Intricate details of magnolia and anemones were replicated on the cake by the incredible The Rose on the Cake, creating a pudding table of hand-painted macaroons and biscuits.
The outstanding bridal gown of Martina Liana, available exclusively at Minster Bridal Boutique, captured the vision of the Snow Queen. This A-line wedding dress with layered lace gives just enough coverage to this bodice while remaining semi-sheer and sexy, juxtaposing with the frothy, full skirt. From the empire waist, the lace from the bodice trickles slightly, elongating the silhouette beautifully. An open V highlights the back of this bodice, while lace appliques adorn the skirt and train, creating a romantic and dramatic feeling.
Hair and Makeup by the award-winning Amazing Face included dreamy flawless Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter base and Pillow Talk eyes to create an ice-maiden look. This was enhanced by special icicle drop curls and waves with detailed intricate knitted top curls and weave with floral detail. Accessories included lustrous pearl drop earrings by Victoria Fergusson.
This was further reiterated on the Stationery by Flick and Flourish. Colours were pulled gorgeously together by the natural hand-dyed ribbons of Border Cottage Silks.
